Jeremy Clarkson: Grand Tour host weighs in on Harry and Meghan debate ‘I won’t judge her’

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire frontman, Jeremy Clarkson, 59, spoke candidly where he revealed he felt it was “unfair” to solely blame Meghan Markle, 38, for Prince Harry, 35, to “resign” from the royal family. The former Top Gear host made the comments in his latest column for The Sun.

Jeremy suggested it may have come as a “surprise” to Meghan about life as a British royal and it wasn’t all “fairy-tale castles” and “riding around on golden unicorns”.

He began by saying: “So it will have come as a bit of a surprise when she became a British royal and found that on a wet Tuesday morning, she’d have to go to Carlisle on something called ‘a train’, to open the civic centre’s new disabled ramp.”

The Who Wants To Be A Millionaire presenter explained that it is fine for people to “resign” from jobs they no longer enjoy.

He continued: “She’s obviously decided that if she can’t dine on peach and peacock and have a couple of mermaids in the gin-filled swimming pool, she won’t be opening any new toilet blocks ever again.

“I won’t judge her for that. People are allowed to resign from jobs they don’t like.”

But the TV personality admitted that the couple’s decision to “leave” the royal family is a “big” decision and added Prince Harry may have been “quivering with nerves” but couldn’t say “no” to Meghan.

Jeremy remarked: “Every fibre of his being will have been quivering with nerves, but you get the impression that he’s not actually capable of saying ‘no’ to Meghan.

“Some imply she bullies him, and I don’t think that’s fair. He is, however, definitely obsessed with her.”

They continued: “This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity.

“We look forward to sharing the full details of this exciting next step in due course, as we continue to collaborate with Her Majesty The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge, and all relevant parties.

“Until then, please accept our deepest thanks for your continued support.”

The news has sparked widespread attention as the couple announced plans to split their time between North America and the UK.

There are questions about how many royal engagements Harry and Meghan will continue to undertake, who will fund their security and how they will earn an independent income.

Currently Meghan is in Canada with her son Archie Mountbatten-Windsor.

The royal couple spent six weeks, including Thanksgiving and Christmas, in the commonwealth country.
