Batman bulge: Star's penis was 'indecently BIG' for costume – FORCED to take medication

It sounds like something ridiculous from one of the more OTT storylines from the comics. An X-rated one at that. Funnily enough, a recent Batman comic caused an outcry when it depicted the hero naked and showed a full-frontal image. And various iterations of the classic costume have come under fire for oversized codpieces and the addition of nipples, particularly in the era of Val Kilmer and George Clooney. But this particular on-set story dates back before that and does not concern the most recent Caped Crusader Ben Affleck or his replacement Robert Pattinson.

This dates all the way back to the iconic and constantly tongue-in-cheek TV show and movie from the 1960s and 1970s.

Actor Burt Ward, who played perky sidekick Robin, has just received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

He took the opportunity to tell Page Six all about his costume issues.

Ward said: “They thought that Robin had a very large bulge for television.” Their shocking solution was rather drastic.

Now 74, the actor revealed that he had been a straight-A student at UCLA, expected to become “a nuclear physicist.”

He maintains he was never sucked into the Hollywood party scene: “You must understand I never smoked, drank or did drugs so I never went to a bar in my entire life.

“It’s not to say I didn’t go out and have a good time but I never went out and did what you think Hollywood (celebrities) do.”

Ward continued to make guest appearances and do voiceover work through the decades.

He returned to television last year in a special episode of the show Supergirl, Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part One, playing the incarnation of Robin’s human alter-ego Dick Grayson from Earth-66.

He was joined at his walk of fame ceremony by fellow Batman stars Lee Meriwether and Terry Moore, as well as director Kevin Smith.
