Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 fans dealt great news ahead of Nintendo Switch launch

Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 release date can’t come soon enough, and ahead of the Nintendo Switch game’s launch fans have been dealt some great news. Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 is one of if not the most anticipated Nintendo Switch games on the horizon. The House of Mario announced the surprise Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 sequel at the end of the E3 2019 Nintendo Direct.

Details on the new Zelda game are few and far between, with all Nintendo Switch fans having to go on is a short – but fascinating – teaser.

A release date for Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 hasn’t been announced yet, but it is rumoured that the BoTW sequel could arrive on the Switch this year.

And ahead of the Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 release date fans have been delivered some great news.

Like with the original Breath of the Wild, Nintendo has enlisted Xenoblade makers Monolith Soft to help develop the new BoTW game.

It remains to be seen if Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 does end up launching this year or not.

But there are reasons to believe a launch for this year is on the cards.

With the PS5 and Xbox Series X set to launch this year, Nintendo will need to keep offering gamers reasons why to pick up a Switch.

And the launch of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 this year would surely bolster the Switch’s 2020 release schedule which is currently looking slightly bare.

A 2020 launch for BoTW 2 could be the sales driver Nintendo needs this year to stay towards the front of gamers’ attention in the face of new competition.

The other reason why Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 may be out sooner than gamers think is Metroid Prime 4.

Metroid Prime 4 was announced way back when at E3 2017 during the Nintendo Switch’s first year on sale.

The new Samus game was announced early on in development, something Nintendo typically doesn’t do.

In the end development on Metroid Prime 4 had to be restarted as the project wasn’t meeting required standards, pushing the launch further back.

Surely Nintendo would not want a repeat of this, and you’d think that when Ninty games are now announced they are on the horizon and not a long way off.

Fans will surely be hoping more details on Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 gets announced shortly, with a Direct the likeliest place for an update.

A January 2020 Nintendo Direct is rumoured to be taking place next week, with it possibly being broadcast on Thursday January 16.
