Pakistan mosque attack: Explosion at mosque kills at least 13

Officials in Pakistan state a bomb was fixed to a bicycle and exploded in the mosque. The explosion happened at a mosque in the of Quetta, the largest city in Balochistan. A witness said on Twitter: “Two martyred in #blast inside a mosque in #Quetta, including DSP Aman Ullah. 6 injures have been shifted to the hospital.#Balochistan #quettablast.”

Police said the blast occurred inside the mosque after Maghrib prayers.

Those injured have been air-lifted to Civil Hospital Quetta.

The area has been cordoned off.

It comes as Pakistan violated a ceasefire with India after one person was killed and three other injured, with the Indian army now responding “strongly and effectively”.

The latest escalation in violence took place along the line of control in the Khari Karmara sector of Poonch district in Jammu & Kashmir.

Kashmir journalist Aditya Raj Kaul tweeted: “One Army Porter has been killed and three injured as Pakistan Army violates ceasefire along the line of control in the Khari Karmara sector of Poonch district in Jammu & Kashmir. Indian Army responding strongly and effectively.”

Jammu-based defence spokesman Lt Col Devender Anand said: “On Friday, about 1.15 pm, Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing small arms and shelling with mortars along the LoC in Sunderbani sector.

“Our troops retaliated effectively and to equal calibre.”

Just 24 hours earlier, the Indian army inflicted heavy damage to forward posts in Pakistan after the latter’s army had violated a ceasefire in the Rampur and Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir, killing one soldier.
