Aston Villa agree Pepe Reina deal with AC Milan, medical set for Monday ahead of switch

Aston Villa have agreed a deal to sign Pepe Reina on loan from AC Milan for the rest of the season, according to reports. Villa were in the market for a new goalkeeper after Tom Heaton suffered knee ligament damage against Burnley last week, ruling him out for the remainder of the campaign.

Reina emerged as a No 1 target for the Midlands club this month after they received a positive response once enquiring about his availability.

The former Liverpool shot-stopper has played only once for Milan this campaign, operating as a back-up for the highly-rated Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Reports suggested that the deal may take some time to get over the line with AC Milan ideally wanting to find a replacement for Reina before letting him go.

But Sky Sports News have now stated that a deal has been struck and Reina will undergo a medical at Bodymoor Heath on Monday.
