Yesterday marked Elvis Presley’s 85th birthday, 42 years after he died at home in Graceland. As one of the most popular musicians of all time, The King of Rock and Roll’s legacy continues as fans descended on Memphis, Tennessee this week to celebrate him. Also in attendance was his former wife Priscilla, who found it all very emotional.
Speaking with Local 24 Memphis, the 74-year-old said: “It’s a beautiful sight, it truly is.
“I mean, every year I’m amazed at how many people show up and these are, as you saw earlier, other countries as well.
“And I always think that Elvis would never ever believe that this is still happening and that this is his 85th birthday when he thought he’d be an old-timer by this time and no one would be interested.
“So I think for all of us who knew him, it’s always a pleasure to see all these people come and celebrate.”

Priscilla continued: “He wouldn’t believe it. Elvis always appreciated his fans very, very much, truly – and had a personal relationship with them.
“When he would come out of the gate he would always talk to them; always ask what music they were listening to – just to try and keep on top of everything.
“So, I think about that a lot; how much love there is for him still.
“Not just here, but all over the world. I’ve been travelling…gosh…it’s very emotional for me when I see it.”
Before cutting Elvis’ 85th birthday cake, she described the late star as “a beautiful, beautiful man, kind and generous by nature”.
Meanwhile, Priscilla has spoken out on the possibility of an Elvis hologram tour.
Speaking on This Morning recently, the 74-year-old doesn’t think the technology is good enough yet but s open to the idea.
She said: “No, it hasn’t progressed really to what I feel would be him. It’s very difficult to get his image.”
Priscilla continued: “Very difficult because the way they do holograms is putting bits and pieces together.
“But I think you’re seeing the real deal on this screen.
“I don’t think a hologram can really match what you’re seeing.
“I haven’t really seen it that perfected. I’m not saying it’ll never be around because it may progress on everybody really. But right now it’s not in progress.”
