Iran tells US troops to leave Middle East IMMEDIATELY, threatening more attacks

Last night Iranian forces launched missiles at US-led forces in Iraq in retaliation to the assassination of the head of Iran’s elite Quds force in Baghdad five days ago. Iranian state television said Iran had fired 15 missiles at US targets. Iran’s Supreme Leader said the missile attack was a “slap on the face” of the US as he addressed gathering crowds of Iranians who chanted “Death to America”.

He said: “Military action like this is not sufficient.

“What is important is ending the corrupting presence of America in the region.”

The US military said the US facilities were targeted at around 10.30pm (GMT) on Tuesday night.

US President Donald Trump confirmed two US bases in Iraq were targeted in the attack.

Mr Trump said an assessment of any causalities and damage is underway but insisted “all is well”

He wrote on Twitter: “All is well! Missiles launched from Iran at two military bases located in Iraq.

“Assessment of casualties & damages taking place now. So far, so good!

“We have the most powerful and well equipped military anywhere in the world, by far! I will be making a statement tomorrow morning.”

The US has around 5,200 military personnel deployed in Iraq.

The UK has around 400 troops in the region to assist forces in the battle against Islamic State.

This is a developing news story, more to follow.
