The UK capital city has plenty of statues of monarchs, statesmen and social activists, but now superheroes are to join them. Sculptures of DC Comics superheroes Batman and Woman Woman are being erected in London’s Leicester Square next month.
The Justice League members will be part of Scenes in the Square, an installation that will feature eight film character statues in the capital’s home of movie premieres.
Created in a partnership between Heart of London Business Alliance, Westminster City Council and film studios, the movie sculptures will feature in and around the square from building and benches to gardens.
Aside from Batman and Wonder Woman, the other statues are of Laurel and Hardy, Bugs Bunny, Singin’ In The Rain’s Gene Kelly, Mary Poppins, Mr Bean and Paddington.
The statues aim to bring to life some of the public’s most-loved movie moments, offering a new attraction similar to Hollywood’s Walk of Fame.

The statues will form a trail that starts with Laurel and Hardy representing the 1920s, with the comedy duo teetering on a rooftop of Leicester Square.
Meanwhile, Batman will be high up too, as Wonder Woman ends to trail representing the 2020s and the bright future of cinema.
Scenes in the Square is free of charge and the sculptures will be unveiled on February 27, 2020.
Both Batman and Wonder Woman have new films in the works.
Meanwhile, Justice League’s Gal Gadot returns for Wonder Woman 1984.
Set before the events of the DC team-up, this solo movie sequel sees Diana Prince take on Cheetah and come across Chris Pine’s deceased Steve Trevor.
Additionally, Warner Bros – who own the movie rights to DC Comics characters – is currently enjoying awards season.
Joaquin Phoenix won Best Drama Actor at the Golden Globes on Sunday for Joker.
As is often to the case in awards season, the actor to win that gong almost always goes on to pick up the Best Actor Oscar.
This would be Phoenix’s first-ever Academy Award despite three previous nominations.
And if he wins for Joker, he will follow Heath Ledger’s posthumous Best Supporting Actor win for The Dark Knight a decade ago.
Joker also has 11 nominations for the BAFTAs, the most of any movie this year.
