Riverdale season 5: The CW renews Riverdale early for the most shocking reason

With it being Archie Andrews (played by KJ Apa) and the gang’s final year at Riverdale High before college, viewers have been wondering if the show will wrap after the current season draws to a close. However, it has recently been revealed the show will go on past the times of Riverale High as season five has been given an early renewal by the CW.

Once again, the CW has given early renewal to a number of it’s popular scripted series.

The network has handed pickups for the 2020-2021 season to 13 series including Riverdale.

The show has been a roaring success with its spin-off series, Katy Keene already receiving an order for 13 additional scripts.

However, early renewal has been ordered for a worrying reason as studios are getting into a writers strike preparation mode.

This is a result of the upcoming contract negotiations with the WGA, which could have an impact on the future of the shows.

The early renewal will allow the show to get finished scripts in the pipeline ahead of time and the impact from a possible writers work stoppage would be kept to a minimum.

CW president Mark Pedowitz has said: “These early orders for next season give our production teams a head start in plotting out story arcs and a jump on hiring staff, and this also provides us with a strong foundation of established, fan-favorite CW shows to build on for next season.”

“We’ve been thrilled with the creative direction of all three new series.”

Other early renewals for a second season include both of the fall freshmen, Batwoman and Nancy Drew.

He added: “Even though we are in the very early stages of our new full stack streaming strategy, which allows viewers to catch up on our new shows from the beginning, we’re already seeing incredibly positive results from our multiplatform viewership for Nancy Drew and Batwoman.”

Other shows given the green light are: All American Season , Black Lightning Season 4, Charmed Season 3, DC’S Legends of Tomorrow Season 6, Dynasty Season 4, The Flash Season 7, In the Dark Season 3, Legacies Season 3, Riverdale Season 5, Roswell, New Mexico Season 3, and Supergirl Season 6.

Meanwhile, Riverdale fans are fearing one of their favourite characters may have already left the show. /showbiz/tv-radio/1224851/Riverdale-season-4-Toni-Topaz-dead-Cheryl-Blossom-theory-cw-netflix-series

After that of course was the murder of her uncle Bedford (Alex Zahara) which is enough to send anyone into madness.
