Call of Duty Modern Warfare update: COD patch news for next PS4 and Xbox download

Activision still has a couple of weeks before the end of Season 1 and that means a few more Call of Duty Modern Warfare update releases.

These usually include a number of bugfixes and tweaks made to the game across all modes, as well as new content.

And Activision has also gotten into the habit of introducing and removing modes for multiplayer gameplay.

And now we’re starting to learn what will be changing with the next Call of Duty Modern Warfare update release.

For now, we don’t know when exactly the next COD patch will be launching on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

This could be arranged for this week, following the short break during the holidays, with Tuesdays and Thursdays the usual dates for patch drops.

The Call of Duty team could also choose to release the first major patch of 2020 later in January and ahead of the end of Season 1 and the Battle Pass.

While we might not know exactly when it will be arriving, we do know some of the changes that will be included.

The latest news shared by the Infinity Ward development team is that extra Create A Class slots are being added to the game.

This is scheduled to happen later this month, although no ETA has been provided yet.

Infinity Ward’s Co-Design Director of Multiplayer, Joe Cecot, revealed as much telling fans on Twitter: “Should launch in January. Don’t have an exact date.”

He also added a little more about the timing of the next update, adding: “Our next big update should have all of the fixes. We start pushing this update through this week. I don’t have the exact date. Sorry.”

The studio’s art director has also shared more on the current situation regarding adding more slots to the game, telling fans on Reddit: “You and everyone else that has commented on this are right. It’s in mainline back at the studio and we’ve been tinkering with it.

“I’m not sure which update its in but I think it’s next. Believe it or not, it can cause horrible bugs if not tested properly. I’m not certain about all this so don’t get fired up on me if I’m wrong. Since I’ve commented here Ill stick with the issue at the studio.”

When asked why it wasn’t a priority before launch, they added: “You’re right. The real answer is there are 10s of thousands of tasks that lead up to the launch of the game.

“We have to triage all of those tasks and decide what tasks take priority over others and who in the teams can we assign the task to.

“For example, I do not have the skill set to fix this particular problem. 3 years goes by in an eye blink for us.”

As mentioned above, we may get news on the next Call of Duty Modern Warfare update this week.

The only guarantee we have right now timing-wise is that this new patch will probably go live before Season 1 ends on January 28.

And anyone who has been working through the game’s first Battle Pass will have built up quite a few COD Points.

300 COD Points are available in the Battle Pass system without purchase, while those who choose to purchase the Battle Pass can unlock an additional 1,000 COD Points within the tiers.

This means a grand total of 1,300 COD Points is up for grabs, which can be used to purchase a future Battle Pass, or unlock remaining tiers in the current one.
