What is the plot of 1917?
1917 is based on an account told to Mendes by his grandfather, Alfred.
The story follows two young British soldiers who, during the spring of 1917, were given a message to pass to a battalion of soldiers.
This message warns of an ambush which was planned by the German forces during Operation Alberich, after the German retreat to the Hindenburg line.
The situation was even more important for Lance Corporal Blake, given that his brother was stationed there to fight in a skirmish.
