Man Utd boss Solskjaer told why James Maddison transfer will not happen in January

“The experience of the Erling Haaland pursuit – they got their fingers burnt there with the young striker going to Dortmund – has emphasised how difficult it is for United to get hold of players in January.

“The will is there and the support financially is certainly there for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

“He has got big funds behind him but I think there is also an admittance here at Old Trafford that bringing in the right player, someone like James Maddison, won’t be as easy to do in January as it might be done in the summer.

“You’ve also got to look at Maddison as well. He’s got the Euros coming up. He’s got a Manchester United side that aren’t perhaps as safer bet in the top four as Leicester City are.
