Golden Globes: Joker win and Adam Driver snub STUNS fans as Once Upon a Time… cleans up

Tonight’s edition of the Golden Globes is going to keep people talking for a while.

Not only did presenter Ricky Gervais completely and awkwardly roast a room full of top-shelf Hollywood A-Listers, but awards to Ellen DeGeneres and Tom Hanks left the audience in tears and Michelle Williams called on women to vote in a rousing speech.

But undoubtedly one of the most-talked about moments saw Walk the Line actor Phoenix swipe the award for Best Actor – Drama from the hotly-tipped Adam Driver in Marriage Story.

And not only that – but his initial reaction was one of what appeared to be disappointment, before the star headed onstage to chastise his fellow celebrities for preaching about climate change after taking their “private jets” to the ceremony.

Stunned at Driver’s loss, viewers flocked to Twitter to share their thoughts on the events.

One person exclaimed: “Are you f***ing kidding me?!?!?!?! #GoldenGlobes.”

“Reddit just came as one. #GoldenGlobes,” another simply said.

“Joaquin Phoenix talking that real s**t and now they are cutting him off… #GoldenGlobes,” one person commented.

Another observed: “Joaquin just said ‘f***ing’ twice in his acceptance speech. I’m guessing that was bleeped on TV. #GoldenGlobes.”

“I’m sorry if you find Joaquin Phoenix speech awkward but he pointed out hypocrisy, not doing enough and taking private jets for everything. It needed to be said. Period. #GoldenGlobes,” a third noted.

And a third laughed: “Ha! S**t just realised that Joaquin got cut off for saying ‘maybe don’t take your private jet to Palm Springs’ so fair play #GoldenGlobes.”
