Hand luggage: Always pack this one thing in your cabin bag ahead of a holiday says expert

Hand luggage for flights comes with a number of restrictions these days. It’s important you adhere to the cabin luggage allowance while packing everything you’ll need for your holidays. An expert has revealed one thing you should always pack in your baggage.

With strict carry on luggage rules to follow it’s key to only take what you’ll need.

Items that are versatile and have multiple uses are preferable.

Electronic devices can prove tricky to pack due to the number of different chargers and cables and so on as well as the necessity of adaptors if you’re heading abroad.

To beat this problem, Killam advises packing an extension lead to reduce the number of adaptors you’ll need.

DON’T MISS

“Whilst there are many tips and tricks packing gurus will advocate (the likes of rolling clothes rather than folding and using neat storage options like packing cubes to sort categories of clothing), one genius trick I always use is bringing an extension cable in my suitcase,” Killam told Express.co.uk.

“That way you only need one adapter and access to one plug.”

Sticking to staples and keeping items to a minimum applies to many areas of packing when assembling your belongings for holidays.

Caitlin Roberts, a Master KonMari Consulant and the owner of Los Angeles-based Minimise With Purpose revealed her tip to save space in hand luggage.

One example of a useful and versatile item is a sarong. “Versatile, low-maintenance clothing is the key to packing light,” Adam Ewart CEO of door-to-door luggage delivery service, Send My Bagtold Express.co.uk.

“Take a sarong for example; great for a hot day but can also be used as a changing room at the beach, a tablecloth for a picnic or a scarf if you’re chilly.

“Further uses include a makeshift satchel for your souvenirs, a pillow when you’re weary, a head scarf to protect you from the sun… the list goes on.”
