US cities issue terror alerts as attack fears surge after Suleimani killing

Law enforcement agencies have said they are now stepping up security measures at locations they deem sensitive. The acting secretary of US Homeland Security has stated that his agency is working alongside law enforcement agents across the country.

He tweeted that the city will be “vigilant against this threat for a long time to come”.

Los Angeles, meanwhile, also issued an alert just hours after the news of the US strike took place, killing Qassem Suleimani.

The alert asked “every Angeleno to say something if you see something”.

This was followed by the LAPD posting a tweet which stated that there was no current threat.

In an Express.co.uk poll, 10,034 readers agreed with the US President that a strike was necessary.

In fact, a staggering 72 percent agreed with the move.

Express.co.uk collected data from 14,039 readers for the poll and comments widely reflected the poll result.

One commenter said simply: “You live by the sword, you die by the sword.”

Another added: “I’m against foreign intervention and the use of drone attacks in general but after the complete debacle that was Benghazi, a message needed to be sent that there would be a heavy cost for attacking a US embassy.”

The third added: “They thought they could get away with terrorism, for once an American president said no.

“Well done Donald Trump.”

A forth said: “If Iran wants to play with fire expect to get your fingers burnt.”
