Arsenal transfer news LIVE: Arteta lines up Chelsea hijack, Aubameyang to Real Madrid

Jorge Mendes may approach Arsenal

Arsenal transfer target Thomas Lemar’s agent Jorge Mendes will speak to clubs in England about a possible deal for the Atletico Madrid star, reports say.

The France international has struggled for form in north London this season.

Arsenal have long admired Lemar, with interest dating back to Arsene Wenger’s time at the Emirates helm.

Back in 2017, the Gunners came close to landing the France international from Monaco, with the club expecting to lose Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City at the time.

But, in a dramatic twist, Sanchez ended up staying and Lemar turned Arsenal down, deciding to stay in Ligue 1 instead.

In recent times, however, talk of Arsenal moving for the 24-year-old has gathered momentum.

And, now, Marca claim Lemar will be offered to sides in the Premier League by agent Mendes.

Arsenal eye Nathan Ake

Arsenal have set up a transfer tug-of-war with Chelsea for Nathan Ake after it was revealed that Callum Chambers will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.

Mikel Arteta has been forced into the market, following the devastating blow to his backline.

According to The Telegraph, Arsenal are now one of five Premier League clubs in the hunt for Ake.

Bournemouth are now concerned that they may lose their most prized asset, as they bid to retain their top-flight status.

The Gunners are in need of a centre-back after Chambers ruptured his anterior cruciate knee ligament in the defeat to Chelsea on Sunday.

He will miss up to nine month’s worth of action, meaning Arsenal cannot afford to wait on his fitness.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Real Madrid

Newspaper reports from Spain have said Real Madrid will make a player-plus-cash offer for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang worth up to £70m.

But when asked about the chance of a January sale, Arteta said: “I don’t even think about that possibility with Auba, I want him here.”

Aubameyang also opened up on his future after the 2-0 win against Manchester United in the Premier League.

“The English press likes to talk a lot. For now, I’m here. I’m 100 per cent here,” Aubameyang told French outlet RMC Sport.

Mikel Arteta needs three transfers

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has backed to look at strengthening in central defence, central midfield and out wide by club legend Kevin Campbell, who believes his old club should take every available opportunity to do mid-season deals.

“He hasn’t got enough, that’s for sure, as is proven. If you can get the player that you want in January, you go and get him,” the ex-Gunners striker, speaking on behalf of GentingBet, told Express Sport.

“You don’t mess around, you get him in the building as quickly as you can and you get working with the player.

“If they can do the business and get a defender, a centre midfielder or a winger or whatever Arteta sees fit, if it can happen in January, go out and get him.

“Come the summer, you could be in battle with so many other teams.

“Arsenal need players, that’s for sure. Whichever way we want to dissect it, Arsenal need better players or players that are more suited to playing the style that Mikel Arteta wants.

“It’s no disrespect to the players that are there right now, but some of them aren’t good enough to do it the way Arteta wants. So, he’s got to go out and be ruthless.

“He’s got to go out there and make these decisions, this is what comes with being the manager at these big clubs.

“Make the decisions and get the people you need because that’s what it’s going to take to move forward.”
