PS4 games shock as Sony prepares surprise release not available on Xbox or Switch

PS4 gamers look set to get free access to a new Final Fantasy 7 Remake demo that won’t be coming to Xbox or Nintendo platforms any time soon.

Details of such a project were leaked earlier in 2019 and come directly from the PlayStation Store.

And this exciting PlayStation news has been followed by new leaks, all but confirming that a new FF7 demo is being released very soon.

This includes a video of the introduction scene for the Final Fantasy VII Remake demo, which is being shared online.

It includes footage from the game that many fans will have already seen but what makes it different is that also contains the launch screen for the new demo.

Those data miners who have managed to grab the demo files early have found a number of details out about it before launch.

But it’s still unclear just how long it will be and what content it will contain for gamers to try out.

There are a few reports stating that there could be a number of different scenarios from the game that fans will be able to play.

But much of this news remains unverified and should be taken with a big pinch of salt.

It will be up to Square Enix to share details, and they haven’t even confirmed plans to launch a demo on the PlayStation Store yet.

But from what has been shared so far, it appears that this new FF7 Demo will be revealed later this month.

And as you might expect, none of this will be available on the rival Xbox One or Nintendo Switch.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is expected to launch on other platforms following its release on PS4 on March 3, 2020.

However, it appears Sony has a one-year deal with Square Enix to keep it a timed exclusive.

And that probably means this new demo won’t be launching on the Xbox One or PC platforms for at least a year.

Following the new revelations, fans have been left speculating when the Final Fantasy 7 Remake demo could be dropping.

And it seems the earliest possible point for the FF7 demo going live was on December 31.

A post on the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Reddit page featured a screengrab of an official site explaining when the PS Store gets updated.

The post said: “The PlayStation Store game content is updated every Tuesday.

“Updates generally occur anywhere from 9am – 7pm PST, but update times are subject to change.

“Movies and TV Shows, however, can be updated as frequently as daily.”

This led to fans hoping that the Final Fantasy 7 Remake may arrive just in time for them to play through on New Year’s Eve.

However, since nothing surfaced from Sony or Square Enix on December 31, we would expect the news to be shared in the coming days or weeks.

There’s even a chance Sony could announce it as part of its PS Plus reveal, which is expected to happen today, January 1, 2020.
