Melania Trump humiliated: Donald corrects her after embarrassing new year blunder

The First Lady was asked by a member of the press for her new year’s resolution to which she responded by saying “peace on the world.” After the US President immediately corrected his wife and explained to her that new year’s resolutions are not to be said aloud while also praising his own resolution. He said: “But I can tell you, we really have a good resolution and it’s a resolution for our country.”

Mr Trump explained to his wife, “I’m not sure you’re supposed to say a resolution out loud.

“I don’t want to say what my resolution is because I think we jinx it.”

This news comes after the First Lady was humiliated on social media after citizens accused her of plagiarising Christmas.

The First Lady revealed her Christmas decorations for the first time earlier this month in a video on her official Twitter account.

Her display paid homage to “The Spirit of America” and showed the lavishly decorated interior of the White House but there was a very mixed review of Melania’s choice of decorations.

On the day before Christmas Eve, the White House posted a photo on Twitter of the building adorned with what they described as “FLOTUS’ signature Christmas wreaths”.

Many social media users hit back at the tweet, mocking Melania and claiming the post made it look like she had invented the Christmas wreath herself.

One Twitter user posted: “A green wreath with a red bow hung on windows, doors and hearths is a common tradition all across the USA for decades and decades now.

Another wrote on Twitter: “What’s next? Signature green shamrocks on St. Patrick’s day? Perhaps a signature white rabbit on Easter?”

Some highlighted previous accusations that Melania copied her first speech as First Lady from Michelle Obama.

A Twitter user wrote: “Looks like Melania plagiarised Christmas.”

One person responded: “She did it to Michelle Obama so why not Christmas too?”

The US President Donald Trump and Melania called for “peace among nations and joy to the world” in their Christmas message released to the United States last week.

They launched a video, which is a little over a minute long, was shared on Twitter by First Lady Melania Trump and retweeted by Donald Trump.

The presidential couple began by wishing “each and every American a very merry Christmas.”

They added: “At this sacred time of year, Christians celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and rejoice in his love for every person.”

The President then said: ”We give thanks for the millions of Americans who come together to care for others with compassion and bring the warmth and bliss of this holy season to our families, our friends, our neighbours and to those in need.”

Melania Trump continued the message by expressing gratitude on behalf of the nation towards the military, police and everyone in law enforcement “who keep us safe.”

Donald Trump continued: “We say a special prayer for those military service members stationed far from home and we renew our hope for peace among nations and joy to the world.

The president concluded the message and said: “On behalf of the entire Trump family, we wish everyone a joyous and merry Christmas and a very happy, happy new year.”
