Liverpool transfer news LIVE: Reds in £64m talks, Andy Robertson back-up, Jadon Sancho

Adam Lallana exit

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is resigned to losing Adam Lallana on a free transfer, with the midfielder set to run out his contract at Anfield.

The German coach wants to extend the former Southampton man’s contract for another year, but Lallana is keen to leave to get more first-team football according to the Telegraph.

The German boss is believed to understand Lallana’s situation and accept the fact he will likely leave.

The 31-year-old playmaker wants to play more minutes and apparently knows that is unlikely to come at Anfield.

He has made three Premier League starts this term, including in Sunday’s 1-0 home win over Wolves.

Nathaniel Clyne enquiries

Liverpool have fielded enquiries for injured right-back Nathaniel Clyne, who is closing in on full fitness, say Sky Sports.

The defender has not played for Liverpool all season due to a serious knee injury sustained in pre-season.

With just six months left on his contract, Clyne’s Anfield career is all but over.

And Sky Sports say there is a good chance the England international could leave the Merseyside club next month.

Andy Robertson back-up

Liverpool are not in talks with Vitesse over left-back Max Clark, despite reports claiming otherwise.

It had been suggested Liverpool had identified the Englishman as back-up to Andy Robertson, with James Milner currently their deputy in the position.

The 23-year-old, however, is not being watched by Jurgen Klopp say the Liverpool Echo.

The Hull-born defender, who used to play for the Tigers, has performed well in the Netherlands and has only 18 months left on his contract.

Diego Carlos talks

Liverpool are considering a £64million bid for Sevilla centre-back Diego Carlos and have opened talks over a deal as they look for a long-term partner to Virgil van Dijk, according to reports in Spain.

The 26-year-old joined from Nantes for £13.5m in the summer and has kicked on impressively under head coach Julien Lopetegui.

Carlos has been in the heart of defence for every league game and has even contributed going forward with two goals.

And, according to El Desmarque, Liverpool are willing to activate the player’s £64m (€75m) release clause.

Liverpool have opened talks with the player to try to agree personal terms before buying him out of his contract, which runs until 2024.

Carlos also has Real Madrid watching him closely with Los Blancos seeing the Brazilian as a potential replacement for their ageing captain Sergio Ramos.

It is not expected that the European champions will move for him in the January transfer window.

United’s Sancho decision

Manchester United have decided they’ll go in for Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho at the end of the season, according to reports.

Liverpool are admirers of the England international, who could command a fee of £100million if he leaves Dortmund in the summer.

And Spanish outlet Marca claim United are willing to meet the Bundesliga club’s demands for the teenager because of his age, marketability and resale value.

Sancho has 12 goals and 13 assists in 24 games this season.

Rhian Brewster

Liverpool are in talks to send out highly-rated young striker Rhian Brewster on loan.

The Reds are debating sending the England youth international out to Swansea in the Championship for the second half of the season.

He has only featured twice for Liverpool this term, both times in the Carabao Cup.

But the Merseyside club want to wait until after this weekend’s FA Cup clash with Everton before making a decision on Brewster’s future, say the Liverpool Echo.

And any move will be determined on guarantees of playing time as Liverpool look to aid Brewster’s development with a five-month stint of regular game time.
