Jose Mourinho wants Bruno Fernandes transfer as Tottenham boss uses sly tactics to do deal

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen on compatriot Bruno Fernandes, who was linked to Spurs and Manchester United in the summer transfer window. The Sporting Lisbon midfielder has maintained his excellent form this term.

Fernandes was hotly tipped to move to England in the summer after a season with Sporting in which he managed 32 goals and 18 assists in 53 matches across all competitions.

And the 25-year-old has followed that up with 13 goals and 13 assists so far this term, after just 23 appearances.

The Sporting captain has made it known he wanted to join Spurs back in the summer.

Speaking to Zero Zero, he said: “In the summer I thought I could go. I believed it was a good time to leave due to many factors.

Fernandes signed a new four-year contract in the summer which includes an £85million release clause.

Yet The Athletic claim that Sporting’s asking price is £59.7m (€70m).

And it is added that those in Portugal feel that Mourinho’s public comments were a deliberate attempt to drive down the player’s price.

Sporting are struggling financially and are currently hoping a team will meet their asking price or that multiple clubs will try to sign their star man in order to spark a bidding war.

It is claimed however that there is little chance of that happening, and so Mourinho is trying to force the Primeira Liga outfit into lowering their valuation of Fernandes.
