The Chase: ‘Madness’ Viewers left stunned by Dani Harmer’s appearance on show

The Chase has made a return to our screens over the festive period, leaving viewers delighted after the tea-time favourite had been absent for the past few weeks. Four different celebrities stepped up to the podium this evening to face The Chaser but fans were left stunned by one contestant in particular.

Tonight, four famous faces joined together to take on Chaser Anne Hegerty in a bid to take home money for their charities.

Broadcaster and Olympian Chemmy Alcott, comedian Alex Horne, World’s Strongest Man Eddie Hall all joined actor Dani Harmer this evening.

However, viewers were left amazed by Dani, who is best known for her role as Tracy Beaker in CBBC show The Story of Tracy Beaker.

Host Bradley Walsh was quick to quiz the star about her stint on the long-running children’s show.

He asked the actor how long she had been on the programme, and revealed she spent “pretty much half” her life on the show.

Dani told the presenter: “So long, I started when I was 12, filmed up till 16, bought it back when I was 19 for another three years, pretty much half my life!”

Fans were quick to take to Twitter this evening after the star was first to take on Anne Hegerty this evening.

One commented: “Tracey Beaker growed up #TheChase.”

“Madness seeing tracy beaker on the chase,” added another fan.

Dani managed a respectable £4,000 this evening after going head-to-head with Anne, but not all the other contestants were so lucky.

World’s Strongest Man Eddie Hall was the first contestant to be knocked out this evening, with Alex Horne also suffering the same fate.

Unfortunately, the celebrities failed to take away the £8,000 jackpot they had built up this evening as they only managed 14 steps ahead of Anne, who quickly caught them.

They managed to execute one pushback but it wasn’t enough to secure them the win this evening.

Chemmy Alcott also made a blunder in the dying seconds when the pair secured a pushback, answering with a country name (Belarus) rather than a city as posed in the question.

After their defeat, Anne told Bradley: They played very well, I am embarrassed about Athens because I’ve been to Athens, quizzed in Athens,

“Too busy quizzing to notice what the museums were called,” she concluded.

The Chase returns at 5pm on New Year’s Day on ITV
