Man Utd team news: Predicted 4-2-3-1 line up vs Arsenal – Pogba decision, three changes

Manchester United are likely to make a number of changes to their starting XI when the Red Devils take on Arsenal at the Emirates. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will look to keep key players fresh while the Norwegian also has a big decision to make regarding Paul Pogba.

Pogba made his return from a long-term ankle injury earlier this month, coming on as a second-half substitute in the defeat to Watford.

The French midfielder also stepped off the bench against Newcastle on Boxing Day but was left out of the squad completely for the 2-0 win over Burnley on Saturday.

Solskjaer did not confirm whether Pogba was carrying an injury but said the World Cup winner had a reaction during during the 4-1 victory over the Magpies.

“He’s been out for a long while, and he didn’t feel right, he reacted to that one [against Newcastle] so we’ll just have to take our time and get him ready for next time,” said Solskjaer.

Scott McTominay remains sidelined due to injury so Fred and Nemanja Matic are expected to continue in central midfield.

Andreas Pereira impressed against Burnley, providing the assist for Anthony Martial’s opener, and will hope to start in the No 10 role once more.

However, Juan Mata is another option for Solskjaer while Jesse Lingard came on as a sub against the Clarets and could get the nod.

Daniel James shone on the right flank at the weekend but looks in need of a rest so Mason Greenwood could be handed a rare start out wide.

Finally, David De Gea will line up in goal while Diogo Dalot, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo remain sidelined due to injury.

United moved up to fifth with victory at the weekend, with Solskjaer’s side picking up their first clean sheet in 15 Premier League matches.

“We are getting better, we’re improving. It’s just we’ve had too many draws early on, and that puts us in the position we are in,” said Solskjaer.

“We’ve only lost once each month, which is, if you go a month between every time you lose, that is not too bad for a team that’s learning and developing.
