When Tori Spelling married Dean McDermott in May 2006, she never thought that one day she would be starting new holiday traditions with his ex-wife Mary Jo Eustace. But, that’s exactly what happened this Christmas, as Spelling and Eustace are now good friends after a cheating scandal ruined both their previous marriages.
McDermott and Eustace were married from 1993 to 2006, and they share a 21-year-old son named Jack. However, when McDermott starred with Spelling in the made for TV movie Mind Over Murder in 2005, they ended up falling for each other on set and had an affair. At the time, Spelling was married to Charlie Shanian.

Something good came out of 2019… – 14 years ago I never thought this pic would ever happen . Society tells us ex’s can’t be friends. Society SUCKS! I truly enjoy this new friendship I’ve formed with my hubby’s ex @maryjoeustace . And, tonight we started a new blended family tradition celebrating the holidays 🎄together. Just three months after McDermott and Eustace finalized their divorce, he married Spelling in May 2006. Now, McDermott and Spelling have five kids together – Liam, 12, Stella, 11, Hattie, 8, Finn, 7, and Beau, 2. Eustace – the former co-host of the Canadian cooking show What’s For Dinner? – has not remarried, but she did adopt her daughter Lola, 14, not long after her divorce from McDermott.
She also wrote about her split from McDermott in her book Divorce Sucks: What to do when irreconcilable differences, lawyer fees, and your ex’s Hollywood wife make you miserable.
After not talking for more than three years, McDermott said on his Daddy Issues podcast in October that he and Eustace were actually on good terms again after she bonded with Spelling at Jack’s 21st birthday party. He said that a “lovefest began” between his wife and ex-wife when Spelling sat next to Eustace at the party.
Their new friendship is so important that Spelling included Eustace in her holiday plans this year, but she couldn’t believe it was happening.
“Something good came out of 2019…” wrote Spelling in the caption of a selfie with Eustace. “14 years ago I never thought this pic would ever happen. Society tells us ex’s [sic] can’t be friends. Society SUCKS! I truly enjoy this new friendship I’ve formed with my hubby’s ex @maryjoeustace.”
Tori Spelling added that they started a “new blended family tradition” by celebrating the holidays together with Eustace and Jack, and she added the hashtags #blendedisbest and #ourfamily.
Mary Jo Eustace also posted the pic on her Instagram page, and she included the hashtags #blendedfamily and #whothef–kknew.
