Manchester United are prepared to wait until the summer and try and sign Christian Eriksen on a free transfer as Tottenham want £40million for their playmaker. The 27-year-old is in the final year of his current contract with the north London club but has made it clear to Spurs that he has no intention of signing a new deal.
And according to The Telegraph, United believe they can land him when his deal at Spurs expires in the summer.
Eriksen joined Tottenham from Ajax back in 2013 for £11.5million but after failing to win a trophy at the club he is now looking for a new challenge.
However, United’s decision not to try and sign Eriksen in January comes with risks because as it stands he is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with an overseas club in January.
And there are several major teams across Europe who are interested in the attacking midfielder.

And despite the game finishing 2-2, Eriksen picked up the man of the match award with a performance that saw him score Tottenham’s first goal of the game.
After the final whistle Mourinho was asked about Eriksen’s future but the Portuguese coach declined to be drawn into specifics.
“I don’t want to speak about it, because I speak with him, we are so open with each other because we trust each other in the sense that we keep to ourselves,” said Mourinho.
“Obviously I share with my boss, Christian knows that, every conversation we have I have to share with my boss, but it’s just between us, so I don’t want to say much.
“The only thing I can say is that he is trying to help the team like he did today, I’m happy with his Man of the Match.
“I think Christian was very good.”
