Kym Marsh: Coronation Street star sparks concern after getting 'struck down' with illness

Kym Marsh, 43, admitted she and her eight-year-old daughter Polly had been suffering from an unpleasant stomach bug in a candid Instagram post. The Coronation Street star revealed they had contracted the Norovirus, which is also known as the “winter vomiting bug”.

According to the NHS, those who have the condition are most infectious within the first two to three days of experiencing symptoms.

As a result, Kym sparked concern from fans as she revealed she was venturing out to work with Polly so soon after dealing with the bug yesterday.

The actress, who is currently starring in a touring production of Elf: The Christmas Spectacular, shared a selfie alongside Polly with her 342,000 followers, in which her daughter was pictured clutching onto a bottle of Lucozade.

She captioned the post: “So after me and Polly both got struck down with the Norovirus last night, today I am thankful for makeup and Lucozade!!

“The show must go on as they say!”

Fans took to the comments section of Kym’s post to express their worries for the soap star following her period of ill health.

One person wrote: “Should be in bed and away from people for 48 hours from the last time you was sick chick, honestly you could give your whole cast mates the virus, hope you feel better soon xx.”(sic)

A second fan warned Kym: “Shouldn’t be near anyone until your symptoms clear for 48 hours.”

Beside the image, she wrote: “There will always be one little person missing from our Christmas.

“I wish we could see you opening your presents, watch your little face light up with excitement, here you laugh and tuck you in after a long day of playing.”

Kym added: “Those things we will never have with you, but you are always with us. We will carry you in our hearts forever and always.

“Happy Christmas mummy’s beautiful angel boy.”
