Melania Trump shock: Donald Trump reveals 'beautiful' Christmas gift 'picked' for FLOTUS

On Christmas Eve, Donald Trump had revealed he was “still working” on a Christmas present for his wife. The President of the United States admitted his last minute shopping during a press conference at his Mar-a-Lago club where he was speaking to US military personnel around the globe to wish them happy Christmas. One intelligence analyst stationed in Kuwait asked Mr Trump what he got for Melania Trump for Christmas this year.

The President joked: “That’s a tough question. Well, I really should say a very beautiful card.

“You know I’m working on a lot of things, I got her a beautiful card.

“Actually I had number of them picked and I picked the nicest one.

“I’m still working on the Christmas present, is that okay?”

However, four days later, it still has not been disclosed what Mr Trump gave the First Lady.

The White House did not respond to requests for what the president gave Melania this Christmas, nor what she might have given him.

Before finishing his chat with the expeditionary group in Kuwait on Christmas Eve, the president revealed that with less than a day until Christmas, he might still come up with a good gift.

He told the troops: “They were great questions, they were really – especially the one about Christmas gifts. You made me think, I’m going to have to start working on that real fast.”

Ms Bennett said: “The hashtag Free Melania came out when she first came on the scene. Everyone thought she was miserable and was sending bat signals from the White House to save her. I think the opposite is true, three years in, she’s enjoying herself.

“She has a lot of autonomy, a lot of independence, she can do and say whatever she wants. She’s very uncompromising about who she is and what she wants to do.

“Again, that’s good and bad. It sort of lowered the bar for what’s expected or anticipated for a First Lady.

“In a way, it also sort of raised the bar for First Ladies. They’re never seen as individuals, they’re sort of dragged along a lot of the time or expected to this or that.

“It’s a bit of a tricky game, but I certainly think she’s savvy enough to understand how she’s marketing herself to the public with the mystery.”
