THIS UK, the company behind meat-like plant-based products for vegetarians and vegans, they have issued an urgent food recall on two of their products after discovering that some batches have been incorrectly labelled.
The affected products have been labelled with incorrect “Use By” dates in December 2020 and may be unsafe to eat after the intended Use-by dates in January 2020.

The alternative to meat company, THIS UK, are urgently recalling its THIS – Isn’t Chicken Sea-Salt & Black Pepper pieces and THIS – Isn’t Chicken Tikka pieces because it has been discovered that some of the products have been mislabelled with the wrong “Use by” dates.
This means that the affected products may be unsafe to eat after the intended Use-by dates in January 2020.

The Food Standard Agency stated: “THIS UK is recalling THIS Isn’t Chicken Plant-Based Sea-Salt & Black Pepper Pieces and THIS Isn’t Chicken Plant-Based Tikka Pieces due to incorrect date labelling.
“The products have been labelled with ‘Use By’ dates in December 2020 instead of dates in January 2020.”
The THIS products can be purchased in Holland & Barrett stores as well as from restaurants such as Pure, Fat Hippo, Kind Burger, DoppleGanger, Chilango and The Vurger co.
The THIS Isn’t Chicken Plant-Based Sea-Salt & Black Pepper Pieces that are affected are the 190g packs with a batch code 9352.

The THIS Isn’t Chicken Plant-Based Tikka Pieces packs that are affected are the 140g packs with a batch codes 9350 and 9352.
THIS has taken action to right their wrong by issuing an urgent product recall from customers and have contacted the relevant allergy support organisations. The organisation will then get in touch with members about the recall.
The alternative to meat company have also said that they have issued a “point-of-sale” notice to be displayed in all retail stores that are selling these products in order to warn its customers, the Food Standard Agency said.
The purpose of the notice is to explain to customers why the product is being recalled and to tell them what to do if they have bought the product.
The notice for THIS Isn’t Chicken Plant-Based Sea-Salt & Black Pepper Pieces states: “We are recalling Isn’t Chicken Sea-salt & Black Pepper pieces due to an error leading to the incorrect Use By Date being applied.
“This is showing as the 8th of December 2020 instead of 8th January 2020.
“If you have bought Isn’t Chicken Plant-based Sea-Salt & Black Pepper pieces as detailed above, do not eat them.
“Instead, check if you have bought the affected batch code(s) / Use by date(s) of the Isn’t Chicken Plant-based Sea-Salt & Black Pepper pieces.
“You can do this by taking a picture of this notice or writing down the batch code(s) / Use by date(s) for reference at home.
“Return the product(s) to the store for a full refund (with or without a receipt).”
The notice for THIS Isn’t Chicken Plant-Based Tikka Pieces states: “We are recalling Isn’t Chicken Tikka pieces due to an error leading to the incorrect Use By Date being applied. This is showing as the 6th or 8th of December 2020 instead of 6th or 8th of January 2020.”
The same advise has been provided for both products by the FSA.
The FSA advised: “If you have bought any of the above products do not eat them. Instead, return them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund.”
Those who have bought the product are being urged not to eat the food to avoid a risk.
Instead, they can return the product(s) to the store it was bought where they will be given a full refund for the item, with or without a receipt.
No other THIS products are known to be affected.
