Melania Trump heartbreak: How FLOTUS has created ‘different standard’ of First Lady

In his devastating new book ‘Inside the White House’, author Doug Wead has recalled conversations with Lara in which she defended her father Donald Trump’s wife Melania. In a bid to research and write his book, Mr Wead spent time interviewing members of the family as well as spending time inside there Washington base.

In the book, Lara said: “She’s an incredibly smart woman, and people don’t give her nearly enough credit.

“When you look at the past First Ladies, there is a totally different standard.

“The media criticism is so overdone that it actually backfires.”

She also explained the media’s criticism of Melania has become a long-running family joke.

Lara is married to Eric Trump – Donald’s son.

She added: “It’s like a joke between them at every dinner.

“Everyone is attacking all of us and she’s smeared for no reason other than pure jealousy and he says, ‘Hon, isn’t this amazing?

“‘This journey that I have allowed you to come on?’
