Michelle Obama shock: Ex-FLOTUS tops another prestigious list nearing the end of 2019

The former First Lady’s memoir ‘Becoming’ was the most sold book of 2018 and has now been included on another list. The highly on-demand autobiography of the former First Lady was the top checkout title for 2019 at the New York Public Library (NYPL).

Although the NYPL did not release the exact number of checkouts for each title, they did a full list of top 10 books for the year.

They also did the top titles throughout several boroughs and branches throughout New York.

Michelle’s biography is at the top of a varied list which includes other biographies, fiction and non-fiction.

‘Educated: A Memoir’ by Tara Westover, ‘A Spark of Light’ by Jodi Picoult, ‘Where the Crawdads Sing’ by Delia Owens, ‘Pachinko’ by Min Jin Lee were just a few of the books on the list.

Michelle’s book was the top book for readers in Manhattan an the Bronx.

But Jodi Picoult’s ‘A Spark of Light’ took the top spot in Staten Island.

Brooklyn and Queens have separate library systems but the NYPL’s bookmobiles found that other books were more popular.

Kevin Kwan’s ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ and Jennifer Zeynab Joukhadar’s ‘The Map of Salt and Stars’ were read most by visitors.
