Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is a galactic adventure well worth the wait. Fans have been holding on since The Last Jedi to see the finale of the Skywalker saga. But is there a post-credits scene for fans to enjoy, despite the Skywalker family’s journey coming fully to an end?
**Warning – Potential spoilers for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
Is there an end credits scene in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker?
Star Wars: The Force Awakens was the first of the new trilogy to be released, chronicling the generation under Leia, Han Solo and Luke Skywalker.
The film series centres around Rey (played by Daisy Ridley) the last hope for the Jedi, as she tries to take on the emerging First Order, led by Supreme Leader Snoke before it is taken over by Kylo Ren (Adam Driver.)
The Marvel Cinematic Universe have changed the face of the franchise, filling their movies with Easter eggs, teasers and extras for fans to find.

As a result, many blockbuster-goers will be expecting to see post-credit scenes after their films, as they are often dealt one, two or even three of these by Marvel.
However, The Force Awakens bucked this emerging trend by saying “no” to the after credits scene, and declined to include one.
The Last Jedi, in contrast, had something for fans to see right at the end of the movie.
While there was no post credit scene, there was a card dedicating the film to Carrie Fisher at the end of The Last Jedi.
Fisher died in December 2016, after finishing filming for The Last Jedi, and her death was quickly followed by her mother Debbie Reynolds’ sad passing just a few days later.
However, despite this touching dedication, there was still no post-credit scene.
This is also the case for The Rise of Skywalker, which ends with no post credit scene whatsoever, leaving fans to ruminate on the finale of the Skywalker saga.
With this film being marked as the end of the Jedi story, as well as a likely end for Mark Hamill in his role as Luke Skywalker, it would not seem fitting for there to be an end credit scene.
This was similar in a film like Avengers: Endgame, which had the subject matter and an ending which would not have lended itself to an extra scene.

And so is the case for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, as the saga as we know it comes to an end.
While the Skywalkers will no longer be chronicled in film, or so we believe at present, it is unlikely this is where we leave the Skywalkers entirely.
Ewan McGregor, who was Obi Wan Kenobi in the prequel trilogy, is reprising his role in a currently untitled series which will follow his character in the years before Star Wars: A New Hope.
It is expected to be set eight years after Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, where Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader, but before the Star Wars Rebels series, which takes place five years before A New Hope and 14 years after Revenge of the Sith.
The Obi Wan Kenobi series is expected to take place around a similar point in the timeline as Solo: A Star Wars Story, which saw the beginnings of Han Solo and how he first came to be the pilot of the Millennium Falcon.
The Obi Wan Kenobi series is under wraps, with little known about it thus far, though it may be the case that we meet Obi Wan trying to ensure the child Luke Skywalker, the secret child of Darth Vader who has been left with a family on Tatooine, is kept safe and away from the Dark Side.
However, according to McGregor, Obi Wan will still be trying to get over the pain of the Jedi cull in Revenge of the Sith, and the rise of the Galactic Empire.
Until then, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is where we will have to leave these characters, with no after credits scene to console us.
