Arsenal fans convinced Mikel Arteta will regret rejoining Gunners after Everton bore draw

Arsenal fans reckon Mikel Arteta will be having second thoughts about taking the reins at the Emirates. The Gunners head coach watched on on Saturday as Arsenal played out a 0-0 draw at Goodison Park against Everton, who had their own new manager Carlo Ancelotti looking on from the stands.

Arsenal, coached by Freddie Ljungberg one last time, travelled to Merseyside this weekend with a new era on the horizon with Arteta set to lead the first-team squad from Sunday.

But first up was the matter of a Premier League showdown with Everton, who appointed Ancelotti as Marco Silva’s replacement 24 hours after Arteta’s return to north London was announced.

Arsenal, though, toiled at Goodison Park and failed to muster a shot until Gabriel Martinelli’s 44th-minute effort hit the side netting.

Arsenal proved unable to break the deadlock as the game ended in a 0-0 draw – prompting Gunners fans to joke about Arteta’s decision to leave his cushy assistant manager job at Manchester City.

Another Arsenal fan said: “This game so far illustrating why these 2 teams just appointed brand new managers. Ancelotti and Arteta both giving the same impressions ‘Well, we’re in deep s***’.”

A cluster of Arsenal followers said the game emphasised the task Arteta has on his hands after Unai Emery’s departure.

“I’m tired of this s*** every week, hopefully Arteta won’t accept this b*******,” said one fan.

Another added: “Bro this team is finished, Arteta has work to do.”

Two more said: “Arteta has a hell of a job to do, brave guy” and “That first-half sums up our season so far & shows just how much work Arteta has on his hands..”

One Arsenal fan raised doubts over whether the Gunners and Toffees will give Arteta and Ancelotti respectively enough time.

“Both Arteta and Ancelotti have a massive job in structuring the teams back to the best,” they said.

“Definitely cant expect wonders from them right away and given how the fans react, will they survive long enough?”
