Man Utd target Erling Braut Haaland jets in to hold transfer talks in Manchester today

Manchester United transfer target Erling Braut Haaland is on a plane to Manchester as the Red Devils look to tie up a January deal for the Red Bull Salzburg hitman. Reports in his native Norway indicate the 19-year-old boarded a Norwegian Airlines flight at Sola, along with his father Alf-Inge, which is due to arrive in the UK at 10.15am (GMT).

Aftenbladet say Haaland left his homeland on Friday morning with Manchester Airport the flight’s destination.

United are looking to fend off rival bids from Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig to land the highly-rated striker, who’s also on Juventus, Barcelona and Real Madrid’s wanted lists.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who coached Haaland at Molde, has made a concerted effort to sign his countryman and earlier this month flew to Salzburg for talks.

He is now looking to speak to the teenager in person once again to convince the in-demand ace that United is the right club to take the next step of his career with.

Haaland has previously been treated to a tour of United’s Carrington training ground, where Solskjaer would be hoping to help hone his immense talent.

Haaland has already scored 28 goals this season – eight of which came in Salzburg’s six Champions League matches.
