Former Counting On star Jill Duggar has chopped off more than a foot of her hair, and she looks like a completely different person. Fans are in love with Duggar’s new look, which they have been asking her to do for years.
Jill’s parents Jim Bob and Michelle are famous for their extremely conservative rules, especially when it comes to the family dress code. But, it’s not just about modest clothing. None of the Duggar women cut their hair because of their fundamentalist religious beliefs.
In the book Growing Up Duggar, which Jill wrote with her sisters Jana, Jessa, and Jinger, they explained that they don’t cut their hair because of the Bible verse Corinthians 11:14-15.
“While it is a shame for a man to have long hair, a woman’s hair is her glory,” reads the verse.
Jill posted numerous pics and a video on the Dillard Family Blog to show fans the step-by-step process of cutting off her long locks, which were so long before the cut that she could sit on them.
The mom-of-two also revealed that she didn’t get her hair cut for the first time until she was 14-years-old, and she has never cut more than six inches at one time until now. Jill explained that she usually gets a trim twice a year, and this time around she decided to go a lot shorter because it was getting unmanageable, and her two young songs were getting tangled in it.
“I was sitting on it and the weight was contributing to headaches!” revealed Jill.”I got to thinking about it and got excited thinking that if I got a little bit more taken off then I’d have enough to donate to an organization that makes free wigs for people who have lost their hair.”
Jill said that she ended up getting 14 inches cut off, plus she added some layers. Once it was over, Jill couldn’t get over how much lighter it felt, and she absolutely loves it.
When Jill posted her after pics, her husband Derick Dillard commented, “Lookin’ good baby!” And, her big sister Jana wrote that she loved the new look, while Jessa called it “cute.”
“You look so much younger and lighter!!” wrote a fan.
Back in 2012, Jill’s mom Michelle cut her hair shorter than normal, and her dad Jim Bob said on the Today Show that he prefers Michelle’s hair to be longer. Michelle admitted that she was going to grow it back because she wants to please her husband, and it’s all about what he likes.
Michelle also told her daughters: “Girls I just gotta say to you, don’t get any ideas. Don’t rush to a hair salon and chop off half your hair.”
