Fantasy Premier League tips: Transfers, bargains, captain picks for FPL GW18

The Fantasy Premier League deadline arrives one hour before Everton vs Arsenal kicks off on Saturday. FPL managers have until 11.30am GMT to get their teams in order.

Managers will be on the lookout for replacements for their Liverpool stars as the Reds will not be featuring this gameweek due to their participation in the Club World Cup.

There are also some intriguing fixtures to consider as Manchester City host Leicester while Chelsea travel to Tottenham.

Fantasy Premier League transfer tips

GK: Vicente Guaita, Crystal Palace – £5.1m

Guaita has been in superb form for Crystal Palace in recent weeks.

The Eagles stopper has kept three clean sheets in his last four games.

Guaita also collected 34 points over that period, plus eight bonus points.

Palace are away to Newcastle this weekend before facing West Ham (H), Southampton (A) and Norwich (A).

DEF: Diego Rico, Bournemouth – £4.4m

Rico has excelled for Bournemouth this season.

At just £4.4m, he has returned 50 points in FPL.

He has also helped the Cherries keep two clean sheets in their last three outings, collecting 16 points over that period.

Rico’s Bournemouth are at home to Burnley this weekend.

MID: Kevin De Bruyne, Man City – £10.3m

This one may not seem like much of a tip but there’s a reason De Bruyne is in 41.6 per cent of all FPL teams.

Two goals and an assist against Arsenal last time out saw him pick up 19 points.

He also leads the way in the Premier League for assists this season with nine.

And with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah both missing GW18, now is a great time to bring in the Man City star if you don’t have him.

However, those looking at an alternative might consider Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish (£6.2m).

Since returning from injury in GW13, Grealish has scored twice and registered one assist.

He has been transferred into 142,884 teams ahead of Southampton’s visit to Villa Park this weekend.

FWD: Marcus Rashford, Man Utd – £9.1m

Despite blanking last week against Everton, Rashford continues to become an FPL favourite.

In the five games prior to the meeting with the Toffees, he scored five times and provided two assists.

Rashford’s price also makes him an attractive purchase considering he is now the second-highest scoring forward in FPL this season, with only Leicester striker Jamie Vardy ahead of him.

United travel to bottom-club Watford this weekend.

Fantasy Premier League captain picks

Two players already mentioned stand out as potential captains this week in De Bruyne and Rashford.

City host in-form Leicester this weekend but any attacking returns will likely involve the Belgian.

As for Rashford, the United star will be keen to bounce back following his blank against Everton and bottom-club Watford present the perfect opportunity to do so.

Elsewhere, FPL managers may also look at Tottenham’s Harry Kane, who goes up against a Chelsea side that have lost their last two league games.

Kane has two goals and an assist in his last two outings.

Despite facing City this weekend, Foxes star Vardy should not be ruled out for the armband.

After all, he is the Premier League’s top scorer with 11 goals in his last nine games and also boasts more points than anyone else in FPL this season.
