Carlo Ancelotti will appoint Duncan Ferguson as his assistant manager at Everton. The Premier League winning manager will also make his son Davide assistant manager. Ancelotti is expected to be announced as the new manager in the coming days after meeting with Everton majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri.
The pair held talks in London to discuss the possibility of the Italian taking charge of the Toffees.
The Daily Mirror reports the meeting was positive and that Ancelotti has agreed in principle to give Ferguson a prominent role in his backroom staff.
Ferguson has impressed fans and senior figures at Everton with positive performances against Chelsea and Manchester United.
The Scotsman has seen an upturn in results and restored energy to what was a lethargic Everton side.
The three-time Champions League winner will also incorporate his son Davide into his backroom staff, having worked with the 30-year-old at PSG.

Everton are still perilously close to the relegation zone but have been boosted by the results under Ferguson.
The Toffees host Leicester in the Carabao Cup next and Ferguson has called on the fans to create a formidable atmosphere, as they did against Chelsea.
He said: “That atmosphere at the ground was incredible. I’m sure they [the fans] will want to go again.
“For the supporters to turn up again, it was never in doubt to be honest with you.
“They love their club, don’t they? We need them and I am sure they will deliver. Leicester are a great team, very strong in the transition, and they’re going to be a really tough test.
“It’s going to be a big ask but we’re at Goodison, we’re at the fortress, and we need to make it a bear pit.”
Ferguson will hope his players show the same desire that they did against Manchester United.
Everton battled hard against the Red Devils and were worthy of a point at Old Trafford.
