Everton fans’ Carlo Ancelotti boost

Everton supporters will be able to laud Carlo Ancelotti’s trophy haul over Liverpool followers if the Italian takes charge of the Toffees.

That’s according to Jamie Carragher, who’s reiterated his doubts about whether Everton is the right job for the former AC Milan, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich boss.

“This is a man who Evertonians, if this comes off, can say has won more than Jurgen Klopp, has won Champions Leagues, it gives them something to really buy into with that manager,” Carragher told Sky Sports.

“As I said I can’t change my view from yesterday, whether it’s Arsenal or Everton I’m not sure he is the man for these type of jobs.

“I think there is a real big job that I think no matter how successful Ancelotti’s been in the past, he’s never really had this type of job or certainly excelled in this type of role. But as I said he hasn’t had that one before.”

West Ham want three signings

West Ham are in the market for a trio of new players when the transfer window opens at the start of 2020.

The Hammers are keen to land a holding midfielder and a winger to strengthen their current playing staff.

While The Athletic also report a goalkeeper is on the West Ham wish list as the turn of the year approaches.

Roberto has failed to impress while deputising for Lukasz Fabianski and an alternative to third-choice David Martin is needed.

Tottenham stars want Adama Traore

Tottenham’s senior players are reportedly eager for Jose Mourinho to recruit Adama Traore from last weekend’s opponents Wolves.

The flying winger scored a screamer on Sunday as Nuno Espirito Santo’s men gave Spurs a fright at Molineux.

And his performance is said to have caught the eye of Tottenham stars who want Mourinho to get him on board.

Football Insider report Tottenham players have asked their manager to sign Traore if the chance arises.

Wilfried Zaha statement

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson has fired off a warning to Wilfried Zaha’s suitors by insisting the Eagles are under no pressure to sell.

“If we lose Wilf that only exacerbates the problem,” Hodgson said. “The club has no desperate need to sell him. We’re not going bankrupt.

“I’m counting on Wilf but one can never say what will happen. We had three players who could play left-back and we’ve lost all three. We’ve been decimated by injuries. Many of them long term.”

Chelsea are understood to be interested in signing Zaha now that their transfer ban has been halved following an appeal.

Liverpool hero praises transfer business

Liverpool legend Steve Nicol believes the Reds have pulled off a real coup by closing in on a bargain deal for Takumi Minamino.

The Red Bull Salzburg star has a £7.25m release clause in his contract which Liverpool are set to trigger on January 1.

Nicol told ESPN FC: “If it is £7.25million that they’re paying for him, it’s not even a gamble. When you look at the money teams are spending on players at the moment, it’s not even a gamble.

“The truth is, this guy is a huge prospect. He’s 24, but I hadn’t heard of him before Liverpool played against him, then all of a sudden you’re standing on the edge of your seat taking notice of a player who wasn’t overawed, he couldn’t wait to get stuck into Liverpool.

“If this goes through, it’ll be a great signing. Again, young players who cost a lot of money, you’ve got the likes of [Sadio] Mane, [Mohamed] Salah, look at the amount they’ve spent on them and in terms of all the crazy transfers, this is a fantastic bit of business.”

Man Utd hit with Jadon Sancho issue

Manchester United will have to pay more for Jadon Sancho than Manchester City would if they strike a deal for the Borussia Dortmund ace.

The Sun claim City wrote a 20 per cent sell-on clause into the terms of the transfer agreement which took Sancho to Germany.

And, in order to cancel that out, Sancho will effectively be allowed to re-sign Sancho for 80 per cent of his market value if they launch a move.

United would, though, have to pay the fee in full – and Express Sport understand that could be more than £100m.

Arsenal face Mikel Arteta dilemma

Arsenal could see their move to make Mikel Arteta their next manager hijacked if they don’t get the Spaniard tied down quickly enough.

The Athletic report Everton are interested in making their former midfielder Marco Silva’s permanent replacement in the Goodison Park dugout.

While Carlo Ancelotti is their first choice, they may be forced to pursue Arteta more forcefully if a deal for the Italian falls apart.

Everton also have David Moyes on their shortlist, with their ex-boss out of work having left West Ham at the end of last season.

Carlo Ancelotti to Everton

Everton could have Carlo Ancelotti in position for Saturday’s showdown with Arsenal following positive early talks over appointing the Italian.

Express Sport understands the recently departed Napoli gaffer is now set to jet into the UK for face-to-face negotiations with Farhad Moshiri and Bill Kenwright.

Duncan Ferguson is in charge of Everton for now and will lead the Toffees into Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup clash against Leicester.

However, the Scot could be back among the backroom staff by the time Arsenal rock up at Goodison Park at the weekend.
