Melania Trump shock: FLOTUS breaks surprising White House Christmas record that stuns fans

The First Lady has installed 58 Christmas trees for this December, beating her previous record of 41. The long-standing tradition was first started during the Dwight D. Eisenhower Administration, with 26 Christmas Trees. But this is just one of several quirks that go on at the White House during the festive season.

In 2018, President Trump and his wife celebrated their second Christmas in the White House with a theme titled “American Treasures.”

The White House was stocked with some 14,000 red ornaments and 29 trees, symbolising valour and bravery.

While Trump and the First Lady, in 2017 and 2018, took part in the North American Aerospace Defence Command’s Santa Tracker.

The pair took calls from young children who rung up to find out precisely where Father Christmas was at that moment around the world.

Ms Standish said: “Melania and her choice of all white, wearing it as well as decorations, represents balance and optimism, a liking for order and clarity of thought.

“She is open to new challenges and ideas but likes to make her own decisions and not be swayed by others.”

The colour expert highlighted how the use of white allows for the “prominence of the American flag”.

Ms Standish added: “Its colours of red and blue stand out in its patriotism along with the balance of green in the trees.

The National Christmas Tree Association also takes part and has an annual running competition.

Tree growers compete and have a chance to see their tree in the official White House Blue Room.

The competitors must win in their regional sectors before progressing to the finals.

Melania isn’t the first FLOTUS to get involved in Christmas decorations at the White House.

In November of 1923, First Lady Grace Coolidge allowed Washington D.C. schools to place a Christmas tree on the Ellipse.

This tree was a 48-foot Balsam fir, which was decorated with 2,500 electric bulbs.

It’s now an American tradition that’s coning up to its 100th year.
