Transfer news LIVE: Man Utd want double deal, Klopp talks Liverpool signing, Chelsea plan

Klopp drops Liverpool transfer hint

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has hinted his new contract could help the Reds’ transfer plans.

Klopp said: “The club was asking for a while already, if we could talk about an extension

“From a specific moment onwards I thought it makes sense before things are getting a bit intense.

“Not now, it’s completely calm and exactly like it should be but maybe in the summer we would have started again talking about things like that, new players when you want to bring them in, they ask how long manager here as stuff like that.

“So it’s done, I’m happy with that.”

Man Utd want two players in January

Manchester United are confident of signing Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho in January.

The Mirror say Ed Woodward feels United are in pole position to land the England international.

They add that United are also hoping to land Tottenham playmaker Christian Eriksen.

The Spurs ace could leave for free next summer if they fail to agree a new deal with the Denmark international.

Liverpool boss Klopp talks Minamino deal

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has heaped praise on Red Bull Salzburg ace Takumi Minamino, though he’s stopped short of revealing if the club have reached a deal to sign the midfielder. The Merseysiders have agreed a deal to sign the 24-year-old in the January transfer window.

It’s understood the Reds – who played Salzburg in the Champions League on Tuesday night – will pay the Austrian outfit £7.25million to acquire the midfielder’s services.

When asked if the club have signed the Japanese midfielder, Klopp said: “There’s nothing else to say about it actually.

“We speak about it like we do with all transfers, potential transfers, when it’s sorted and not earlier.

“Very good player, I can say that, but I saw a few very good players in the Salzburg team, to be honest, much more than I wanted – especially in the first half! So that’s it.”

Lampard talks Chelsea transfer plans

Chelsea are only in the market for players of a “top calibre” as Frank Lampard looks to improve his squad in the January transfer window. The Blues had their two-window transfer ban halved by the Court of Arbitration for Sport last week meaning they can sign new players in the winter window.

But Lampard insists he does not want to bring players to Stamford Bridge for the sake of it.

“We want a top calibre of player to improve us,” he said before Bournemouth’s visit on Saturday. “I am happy with the squad, [but] we have to look if we can.

“It is a joint effort; scouting, board, I will recommend players. I want players to come in who want to be a Chelsea player.”
