Speaking about her character’s progression in the upcoming outing, she said: “There’s kind of a two-prong thing of Bree.
“She’s just in a lot of pain emotionally and physically. That’s one thing that I really wanted to keep going with this season.
“I wanted to make sure the post-traumatic stress syndrome – from the rape – is a tether for Bree.”
Season five of Outlander is expected to follow the Fraser family as they attempt to build their life together in a pre-revolutionary America.
This will also follow the events of author Diana Gabaldon’s fifth book in her Outlander series, The Fiery Cross.
Outlander season 5 begins on Amazon’s Prime Video on February 17 in the UK.
