Samsung TV owners face a hugely irritating glitch that won't be fixed until next year

If you have been hit by the iPlayer issue then there are some simple steps to check if you can get things fixed before the festive period.

Samsung has posted the following advice on its website: “To continue using BBC iPlayer, your Samsung TV may require a software update. If you experience any issues with BBC iPlayer after the 9th of December 2019, please follow the steps below to update your TV.”

1 Press the “Menu” or “Settings” button on your remote control.

2 From the user menu please select:

SUPPORT > SOFTWARE UPDATE > UPDATE NOW

SUPPORT > SOFTWARE UPDATE > ONLINE

3 Then follow the on-screen prompts to complete the update.
