P30 Pro could soon be overtaken as huge Huawei upgrade revealed for first time

The P30 Pro is undoubtedly one of the best phones of 2019, but Huawei looks set to step things up a notch for its next flagship smartphone in the popular P series. The Chinese technology firm will almost certainly release a new flagship smartphone in the coming months and all signs point to the so-called P40 Pro.

Huawei is expected to include a faster processor, bigger battery and updated design.

And that new look might’ve been glimpsed in a new leak for the first time, offering fans a preview of what is to come in 2020.

Posted online by GizChina, the image clearly shows a side view of what is claimed to be the P40 Pro.

Although it doesn’t reveal much about this new device there are a couple of hints which may show what features are coming to this latest and greatest phone.

Firstly, it seems Huawei will curve the screen around the edges of the P40 Pro rather than include a slim bezel.

This is similar to the stunning waterfall design already found on the current Mate 30 Pro.

Next, it appears the new flagship will have a much more pronounced camera bump, which could help Huawei pack a new quad-camera system inside the glass and metal body. This matches what we’ve seen from rivals including Apple and Google, which both dramatically increased the size of the camera bumps this time around.

Huawei has made huge advancements in its rear camera systems over the past few years and the P40 could take things to a new level with improved night photography and better zoom both expected.

Other rumours swirling around the web include the P40 Pro getting a large 6.57-inch AMOLED screen and the latest Kirin 990 processor which now includes a built-in 5G modem for access to the ultimate download speeds.

There is bound to be more leaks and rumours in the coming weeks and months but fans of these phones shouldn’t have too long to wait until they find out more official news.

The Chinese tech giant usually unveils new P-series devices in March and there’s nothing to suggest that the same launch pattern won’t take place in 2020.
