Michelle Obama shares heartwarming moment with husband Barack during conference break

The former First Lady was joined by Barack and Hollywood actress Julia Roberts at their foundation’s leadership conference in Kuala Lumpur. Julia and Michelle spoke on stage at the inaugural Leaders: Asia-Pacific conference. It is focused on promoting women’s education in the region.

Whilst in Malaysia, the former White House residents participated in a community services event during the sidelines of the conference.

The couple shared a loving moment as Barack assisted his wife at the DIY workshop.

He could be seen holding a wooden joint in place as his wife wielded a drill to screw it together.

Michelle and Barack were captured smiling and joking at the workshop.

Whilst speaking at the conference, Michelle revealed details about her relationship with her husband.

She told audiences: “Marriage is not a solo expedition. You need a friend, family member or outside help to help you.”

The ex-First Lady claimed it was common for people to think of things like having the perfect wedding when they were trying to reach “#relationshpgoals”.

Michelle added: “But marriage is a hard thing. Barack and I understood that about each other. There was counselling for Barack and I.

Barack will speak on the final day of the conference on Friday alongside his half sister Dr. Maya Soetoro-Ng, at an event titled ‘How the Asia-Pacific Shaped Us’.

Dr Soetoro-Ng works for the Obama Foundation and at the social sciences college of the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

The conference is bringing together 200 emerging leaders from 33 countries and territories across the Asia Pacific.

It is part of a year-long program to promote leadership.

Earlier this week, Michelle and Julia were seen at a high school in Vietnam where they met with female students.

The duo were joined by Jenna Bush Hager co-host of NBC’s Today show and George Bush’s daughter.

Jenna interviewed Obama about the work of The Obama Foundation’s Girls Opportunity Alliance program.

The conference is closed to the public but will be livestreamed via the Obama Foundation’s website.

This is not the first time Julia has worked with the Obama Foundation.

In January she joined Meryl Streep, David Beckham, Anne Hathaway, Natalie Portman, Amy Poehler and John Legend, in a video to promote educating girls.
