Final Fantasy 7 Remake release date: Bad news for Xbox One and PC fans

Square Enix has one of the most anticipated projects coming out next year, with the Final Fantasy 7 Remake offering up a tantalising mix of nostalgia and modern gameplay.

From the PS4 demos already shown, it appears that the publisher has gotten the balance right between both.

And fans can even enjoy an expanded journey, with the first part coming out in March 2020.

But so far, we have only heard about Final Fantasy 7 Remake coming out on PS4.

The good news this week is that it has been revealed that FF7 will have the chance to come to other platforms, like Xbox One and PC, in the future.

The downside is that fans might be waiting longer than they first anticipated. In a new reveal made today, it appears that other platforms will not see the game released until 2021.

Updated artwork for the PS4 version confirms the news, revealing that Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be a timed exclusive.

And this timed exclusivity period will last 12 months, meaning the game could become available on other platforms in March 2021.

Whatever platforms it does become available on, you can bet that the project from Square Enix is going to sell well.

Demos have been made available during certain expos, and they’ve helped showcase that this new game will not just be a visual upgrade.

Everything about it screams modern RPG, and with the backing of fans of the original, this looks to be a guaranteed hit.

For those who might have forgotten the story, here’s the round-up from Square Enix:

“The world has fallen under the control of the Shinra Electric Power Company, a shadowy corporation controlling the planet’s very life force as mako energy.

“In the sprawling city of Midgar, an anti-Shinra organisation calling themselves Avalanche have stepped up their resistance. Cloud Strife, a former member of Shinra’s elite SOLDIER unit now turned mercenary, lends his aid to the group, unaware of the epic consequences that await him.

“A spectacular reimagining of one of the most visionary games ever, the first game in this project will be set in the eclectic city of Midgar and presents a fully standalone gaming experience.

“Along with unforgettable characters and a powerful story, FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE features a hybrid battle system that merges real-time action with strategic, command-based combat.

“For players who wish to focus purely on battle strategy, a menu-focused ‘Classic Mode’ provides a gameplay style more similar to the original game.

“The Deluxe Edition, available to pre-order now, contains a hardback art book featuring stunning concept art, a soundtrack selection CD, Summon Materia DLC allowing players to summon Cactuar in-game and a Sephiroth SteelBook Case.

“The Digital Deluxe Edition contains a digital artbook, a digital soundtrack selection, and Summon Materia DLC allowing players to summon Carbuncle and Cactuar in-game.

“Those who pre-order any version of the game will also receive the Chocobo Chick Summon Materia DLC at launch.

“Those who pre-order any digital edition from the PlayStation Store will also receive the Cloud & Sephiroth Dynamic Theme for the PlayStation 4 system.”
