Arsenal told to axe ‘lazy’ Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January with explosive rant

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang may have helped Arsenal come back from 1-0 down to beat West Ham on Monday night, but Tony Cascarino believes the strike should be “the first one out of the club” in January. Arsenal had been on a worrying run of form ahead of their trip to the Olympic Stadium last night having gone seven Premier League games without a win.

And they got off to a dreadful start against a struggling Hammers side when Angelo Ogbonna put the hosts in front.

But the Gunners enjoyed a nine-minute salvo after the hour mark as goals from Gabriel Martinelli, Nicolas Pepe and Aubameyang secured all three point.

It was Aubameyang’s 11th Premier League goal of the season with some fans left wondering where the club would be in the table without their talismanic frontman.

Cascarino though believes the Gabon international has been part of the toxic problem which has plagued the Arsenal dressing room this season.

And the former Chelsea striker went on to suggest Arsenal should look at selling Aubameyang at the first opportunity.

“Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored last night but he really hurts Arsenal with his poor attitude,” he wrote for The Times.

“People talk about his goalscoring record – and it is indeed very good – but he needs to be a team player.

“Last night he was just letting opposing defenders head the ball away without even making a challenge.
