Craig Revel Horwood: Strictly judge slams 'cheap train crash' show in brutal swipe

Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood, 54, is no stranger to expressing his outspoken thoughts both on and off screen. During a recent episode of the programme’s spin-off show, he told viewers he had originally turned down his judging role as he believed the show would be a “train crash”.

Craig explained: “I received a phone call saying there’s a new BBC TV show that involves professional dancers dancing with celebrities who have never danced before.

“I said, ‘That’s an absolute train crash waiting to happen and of course, I’m not interested’.”

The professional dancer went on to say he changed his mind and went for a screen test to be a judge.

“I got the job and the rest as they say is history,” he added.

“Not a lot of people know that.”

Craig now judges the show alongside Bruno, Shirley Ballas and Motsi Mabuse, who joined the show this year.

On why he thinks the show has been such a success, he added: “I think the reason it turned around is because I think the confidence grew in the celebrities.

“You could see their improvement and that’s what people at home were watching.”
