‘Proper Man Utd’ – Roy Keane praises Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side during Manchester derby

Manchester United hero Roy Keane has praised the Red Devils’ first half performance against Manchester City. Goals from Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial gave United a 2-0 lead at the break at the Etihad.

Rashford deservedly put the Red Devils ahead from the penalty spot after he was brought down by Bernardo Silva.

VAR decided that spot kick after referee Anthony Taylor originally waved play on.

Martial doubled the lead at the end of a counter attack, though in truth United could have been further ahead at the break.

And Keane was quick to praise his former side for their first half performance.

Keane said on Sky Sports: “Absolutely fantastic, a proper Man United performance.

“A lot of courage, a lot of bravery from the players. Shown a lot of personality.

“Brilliant attacking football, they deserve to be two goals in front.

“They’ve been outstanding, brilliant half from United.”

United fans were happy with what they saw too.

One wrote on social media: “Counter attacking masterclass, could of and probably should have been more. Got pushed back towards the end of the half though, need to make sure we come out firing in the second half”

Another added: “No exaggeration to call that the best 45 minutes since Fergie. Absolutely breathtaking counter attacking dominance against City at the Etihad. United sensational to a man. City dominated the last 10 but United, wow. To do that against City? A real statement. Now…second half.”

And a third commented: “Please please do not bottle this now. That is the best counter attacking football I have this team play”
