Man Utd news LIVE: Players visit Woodward over Solskjaer sack, Pogba to be sold, Mane snub

Man Utd still want Christian Eriksen

Manchester United are preparing to make another move to sign Tottenham playmaker Christian Eriksen in the January window despite seeing their previous attempt to sign the midfielder fail.

The 27-year-old, who is in the final year of his contract, has made it clear he has no intention of signing a new deal and staying at the north London club.

As a result it appears Eriksen’s exit from Tottenham is now a matter of when rather than if.

Spurs have the option of either selling the player in the January transfer window or alternatively seeing the player run down his contract and leave on a free in the summer.

United had expressed an interest in the Dane during the summer but according to The Mirror, Eriksen was not interested in making the move at that time as he preferred to have the opportunity to play Champions League football in his final season at Tottenham.

Man Utd stars behind Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Manchester United players have demanded Ed Woodward keep Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on as manager, despite the Red Devils’ mixed start to the Premier League season.

The Red Devils eased some of the pressure on the Norwegian with a 2-1 victory over Tottenham on Wednesday, with a Marcus Rashford brace ruining Jose Mourinho’s return to his old club.

Manchester United have won just five of their first 15 league matches, however, something that Solskjaer is fully aware isn’t acceptable.

Yet the Daily Star claim that players at the club have gone to Woodward and insisted he keep Solskjaer in charge.

A club source is quoted as saying: “There’s no doubt the squad are still desperate to do well for the manager.

“There is a strong feeling towards him and some of them wanted to make this clear.”

Woodward is reportedly willing to give Solskjaer all the time he needs in order to carry out his rebuilding job.

Paul Pogba transfer decision

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has grown irritated by the carry-on from Paul Pogba’s failed move to Real Madrid in the summer, reports say.

And they claim the Norwegian is now ready to offload the France international in January in order to free up funds to use on new reinforcements.

Pogba played under Solskjaer for the Manchester United academy and initially flourished when the Norwegian replaced Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford last December.

However, he spent the summer lusting after a move to Real Madrid, with Zinedine Zidane hellbent on securing the midfielder’s signature.

And the Independent say that Solskjaer’s patience with the 2018 World Cup winner is wearing thin.

Liverpool star Sadio Mane snubbed transfer

Liverpool star Sadio Mane was approached by Manchester United to join the club in August 2015, but decided against the move because he didn’t want to play under Louis van Gaal, reports have claimed.

Now the Senegal international is likely to feel relieved with his choice.

According to ESPN, Mane turned down Manchester United because he didn’t want to work with the Dutchman, who replaced David Moyes at Old Trafford.

Instead, they opted to sign Anthony Martial from Monaco and the Frenchman made a real impression during his first season in the Premier League.

Mane joined United’s arch-rivals Liverpool after an impressive second season with Southampton, where he netted the fastest Premier League hat-trick of all-time.
