The Scot brought in Juan Mata in January from Chelsea to try and make a statement signing instead but that again didn’t have the desired impact.
The fact the Red Devils already had Shinji Kagawa meant the signing didn’t make sense to most of the squad.
“Great lad, Juan, but we didn’t need him,” a first-team player under Moyes explained.
“We had Shinji Kagawa at the time and he was a really popular, well-respected player within the dressing-room.
