Ono insisted she didn’t blame her famous husband for eclipsing her career and, when asked if she thought she had to choose between art and love, she replied: “Definitely.
“I was a proud person thinking my work was any good anyway,” she explained.
“When I got pregnant [with Lennon’s son Sean] I had to concentrate on being pregnant for a whole nine months, even though I knew it was ruining my career at the time.”
Ono had suffered several miscarriages before getting pregnant with Sean at the age of 42 and spent most of her pregnancy on bed rest due to fears she might lose another child.
