Cabin crew secrets: Flight attendant warns never to do this on a plane for vile reason

Cabin crew are well used to travelling by plane and have likely seen all sorts of things during their time working on flights. Passengers are often keen to settle in and get comfortable when they board a plane. However, before fliers try to get cosy it’s worth taking this piece of advice.

This is particularly key if you’re planning a trip to the plane toilet.

The flight attendant, who claimed to have worked on long haul for six years, cautioned passengers about loo spills.

“Please do not ever walk into a toilet with bare feet,” they posted on a Reddit thread. “I promise you, nine times out of 10, that is not water on the floor.

They added: “The toilets are often absolutely disgusting and get deep cleaned only at the end of a route.

DON’T MISS

“For us, this could be from one side of the world to the other… imagine how lovely they are at the end of a 12-hour flight with 200 people using them.”

The cabin crew is far from alone in cautioning against bare feet on a flight.

Another flight attendant posted: “So many incidents occur on the plane that every day passengers don’t see or consider.

“My last flight an elderly man accidentally s*** on the floor, stepped in it, and walked on like it was nothing. DO NOT WALK AROUND BAREFOOT.

Many people often worry how clean plane cabins are, even with shoes and socks on.

Fortunately, germaphobes can now choose airlines based on how clean they are thanks to recent rankings.

Skytrax’s World’s Best Airline Cabin Cleanliness 2019 were announced in October.

According to the UK consultancy: “Passengers rated the standards and quality of cleanliness in the aircraft cabin for airlines.

“Cleanliness and presentation of seat areas, tables, carpets, cabin panels and washrooms all contribute towards the final results.”

The airline with the cleanest cabin of all is Taiwanese airline EVA Air. The carrier has risen from second place last year.

Japan Airlines came in second position. The airline hit headlines recently for its new technology which will alert passengers as to where babies and toddlers will be seated within a cabin.

Japan’s ANA All Nippon Airways – the winner of the 2018 awards – came in third place.

In alarming news for the UK, no British airline featured in the top 20 for the World’s Best Airline Cabin Cleanliness 2019.

European airlines popular with Britons did feature in the list for 2019, though.

Swiss International Air Lines came in seventh place and was awarded Best Airline Cabin Cleanliness in Europe 2019.

German carrier Lufthansa came in 10th place, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines in 15th and Finnish airline Finnair in 20th.
